The Generals continued their success against the directionals in 2011. As against West, both teams had some success pressing and running. Shafter stretched out to a ten point lead just before the end of the third, but South whittled the lead down with steals and by forcing fouls. With less than 30 seconds left in the game, the Rebels sunk a contested corner three pointer to tie the score at 48. Shafter got the ball to Cyrus Parsons underneath the basket for an easy basket and less than 3 seconds for South to heave a final, futile shot.
Lots of positives tonight. Angelo Senoran has really impressed me defensively this year and in this game. Tyler Gonzalez seems to get better every game at utilizing his size and abilities. He stayed home more often, blocked shots, and did a good job on the offensive end too. Kyle Millwee continues to grow up quickly, even showing some Laughlin fearlessness at times. Cyrus Parsons, Jesse Samaniego, and Ted Bloemhof bring a high level of inside strength and toughness to this General squad. Erik Gamez knocked down a good looking three tonight. He is a good shooter and I was glad to see him get that look and take advantage. The game ball, however, would have to go to TJ Parsons. The elder Parsons was a winged, clawed, creature of myth at the defensive end. He is all defender and took the ball almost at will. Good job Generals.
