Shafter 50, Taft 59

It was a close game all the way through. Shafter was down two at half and down four in the middle of the fourth quarter, when Taft overcame a great defensive possession by Shafter with a long three out of a scramble to beat the shot clock and go up by seven. The Generals had to start fouling and Taft made enough free throws to spread the margin and run the clock out.

Taft is a good team. This is ten in a row for them. We want to beat good teams, but it sounds like the team continued to play at the higher end of its range. It will need to. Friday, Shafter is scheduled to go up the mountain and play Tehachapi. With the weather being what it is, might not happen, but Tehachapi is every bit as tough as Taft.
